Turquoise Fan Necklace

If you like to make a statement with turquoise and silver, this necklace is for you.  A fan of graduated turquoise petal-shaped stones are assembled with sterling silver "Hill Tribes" nuggets with sterling and cabachon components connected to the chain.  The chain is Argentium silver Viking Knit technique drawn to a narrow width, making it light but dense and interesting to the eye.

Viking Knit is an ancient method used by the old Scandinavians to create ornamental embellishment by weaving metal wire to form tubes. Since it was easy to convey and exchange the silver in this form, Viking Knit may also have been used as a currency. Viking Knit has been found in ancient grave sites as an embellishment on artifacts.

Argentium silver is a modern pure silver alloy that has only been formulated since the 1990s and highly resistant to tarnish due to a new alloy with Germanium. This alloy forms an invisible protective barrier that greatly slows down the tarnishing process.
